🕹️ Amsoft ROLAND Games Special! ⭐️

Continuing our celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Amstrad CPC 464 this year, and seeing as Roland Perry will be the guest of honour at next Friday’s Play Expo Blackpool retro convention – I thought it was time we also celebrated Amstrad’s earliest gaming mascot – Roland!

Introduced by their own software house “Amsoft”, also launched with the CPC 464 to provide plenty of software and games at the time of release, many games feature Roland in various disguises and erm sprites. Poor Roland wasn’t very consistent over the 10 games he featured in (including the 2 made for ACU magazine) – his earliest incarnation was an Indianna Jones type character, but over time he turned into a strange cube and even into a flea!

So tonight we’re going to play, celebrate and reminisce about these strange early games – some great! Some crap! Some OK… And we’ll be taking a look at some homebrew games that also brought back the Roland character too!

BUT we’re also inviting you to take part in a little fun competition to design your own Roland game! Think of a name “Roland Goes….”, “Roland On The…” (or whatever) and mock up a design in whatever drawing/design program of your choice… “Paint” on Windows if you want! Or you’ve got free AI tools at your disposal now to play with! But I’ll provide some Amsoft and Roland art assets in my Discord server you can use to save some time. You’ve got today and during the stream to get going with it, and we’ll reveal the entries later on in the stream! Have fun – the funnier the better!

Anyway, it’s sure to be nice nostalgic Amsfun as always!
