WRC: FIA World Rally Championship Arcade aka FIA WRC Arcade) is a late PSOne Game published in 2002. It is based upon the 2002 World Rally
Championship season.
It features licensed cars from 7 manufacturers and features 14 tracks in as many different countries. It features different rack surfaces asphalt, dirt, gravel, ice, mud and even snow. The game also features weather conditions
ranging from bright and sunny to rain.
There’s 5 game modes: time trial – to get the fastest time on any of the tracks. vs mode which is a 2 player mode. Then there’s super special
where one drives against 16 other vehicles. And finally GRID mode where the player can unlock bonus tracks racing against other competitors.
It didn’t receive the greatest love by the reviewers. I think the game has very nice graphics and although the game is a little twitchy it does feature nice physics and you do get a sense of control and also get better at driving the more you drive.
Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 5/10 – cars sounds like a swarm of bees
Control: analog stick
βΌοΈThe SD video has been upscaled to 4K so that YouTube kicks the proper encoder, otherwise this would be an even more pixellated mess. YouTube isnβt kind to SD quality retro gaming video these days. Even 1080p video gets messy easilyβ¦.
