Cyberpunk 2027 is a beast of a game, when it first came out it would bring even the most powerful systems to its knees quite easily. It wasn’t very optimized. Project RED has been very busy patching and optimizing the game ever since its release but recently they added something quite spectacular: a special kind of Ray Tracing on steroids called Path Tracing where light actually behaves more like it should and the difference with regular Ray Tracing or even the baked in shadows and highlights is remarkable.
The suggested hardware to run this path tracing and ray tracing on are the high end cards of the 3000 and 4000 series of Nvidia cards. Now I don’t have such a card. What I do have is a beefy CPU, a Ryzen9 5900X paired with an RTX 3070 and 3600 megatransfers per second DDR4 RAM. And it seems that with pretty decent graphical fidelity I am able to have a playable experience with that new fancy pants path tracing turned on albeit at 1080p. I might try it at a higher resolution but for now I am quite satified. This video is me trying to play the intro and do the first trials and then an attempt at the first mission in the city. I am playing as the Nomad.
