A test recording of Outrun 2006 SP at native PS2 resolution and for a bit at 2x resolution using OBS on POP!OS with PCSX2 – mind you the OBS I am using does not support HW compression on this clone HADES NUC system of mine.

The Hades NUC clone with the Intel i7 8709G, AMD Radeon RX vega M GH 4G Discrete Graphics. Worked fine in Windows 10, but AMD won’t touch the Vega M side of things driver-wise nor will Intel do so as they only cater for their own NUC. AMD and Intel revert users of other systems to the websites of those system integrators. As my NUC is from a Chinese firm that doesn’t seem to want to support this system I can’t do Windows much longer on this system if I don’t actively hack the drivers to install on the device. I have been able to get Jan 2022 AMD drivers working on the system with an older set of HDMI audio drivers but I can’t say I like to do that.

SO in the end I decided to forgo Windows 10/11 on this system and have one drive with Batocera (Retrogaming) and the other will house Pop!OS – yeah Linux small form factor gaming. Been quite happy with the performance of Batocera. So POP!OS should be a breeze…. should…. I mean it still is Linux right 😉 – well it turned out the be a breeze.

The system installed within minutes and I was up and running with all the hardware recognized without the glitches of the Intel/AMD video driver plaguing the gaming performance.
