Multiple Games (A-H) Running On MiSTer’s PlayStation “Unstable” Core *March 1st 2022* (HDMI 1080p30)

#MiSTer FPGA Running #PlayStation Unstable Core 3-1-2022 – Testing Some Favourite #Games A-H

The MiSTer FPGA project has had a PlayStation core in development for a while. Now there is a publicly available ‘unstable’ core that has already proven to have become quite compatible. There’s still a few quirks but it is fantastic how fast and how complete this core has progressed.

In this video I show a couple of my favourite games (A-H) I ripped and transcoded to .CHD (compressed hunk of data) so that it takes up as little storage as possible per game without losing quality. The games shown here I also own in physical form in my collection.

This footage was captured with the Avermedia Live Gamer Portable which is a capture card capable of 1080p30 capturing. It’s not the best as it does introduce a bit of artifacting in the capture itself with the dithered PSOne video visuals. But hopefully rendering it in 4K will have YouTube’s optimal encoding codec kick in so that it doesn’t turn the video into an even more blurry mess. The standard codec YouTube has enabled is horrible for retro gaming captures – it used to be a temporary solution with the better codec kicking in after another render pass on all videos but these days it only does it to 4K video. So it pays off to upload videos in 4K these days if you don’t want the quality of your videos even worse than they already were to begin with 😁
