With today’s shortages in videocards as every crypto currency miner is buying up any decent cards I figured it would be good to put an older card to the test and show off its magnificence.
Over the years Nvidia has been making show-case demos for their various new video cards. AMD/Radeon has been doing the same for their cards over the years. Some truly magnificent examples reminiscent of the demos put out by the demo groups on the old home micro computers (8/16/32 bit).
Here’s a snippet of ‘Endless City’ which was originally designed to run with the GTX 460. It was released at the back end of 2010. Techniques used are DirectX 11, 3D and it had SLI support.
Supported Windows: 7 and up, including 64 bit versions.
The scenes are rendered in real time and seem to be procedurally generated. I believe the creators must have been heavily inspired by the cityscapes found in the Blade-runner movies. Even the sound track is remeniscent
of the original Vangelis track. In this video I used an alternative track from the licensed Epidemic Sound library.
