[AMSTRAD CPC] Roland In The Caves – Review & Longplay

Roland In The Caves on the Amstrad CPC review and longplay.
Firstly, this is based on a Speccy game released a year earlier called “Bugaboo”, there’s a really interesting article in Retro Gamer magazine (issue 91) about the game, the programmers and it’s affect on the Spanish gaming/programming industry – it pretty much kick started it! Released by Indescomp in Spain and then Quicksilva in the UK it became a big hit.
A year later programmer Paco Saurez was asked to convert this to the Amstrad CPC and it was re-branded Roland In The Caves, and proved very popular and eventually led to Indescomp becoming Amstrad Spain.
I forget to mention that Paco went on to program only a few more games for the Amstrad, these being “The Galactic Plague” a not very good Galaxians clone and the unreleased outside of Spain “Campeones” (roughly translated “Champions”) a simple but fun racing game.
Paco then went on to form Opera Soft one of the biggest and best Spanish gaming companies, and many years later in the early 90’s a sequel was released called “Poogaboo” or “La Pulga 2”!
I’ve called this a Longplay because I’ve played all the levels in increasing difficulty up till the point it doesn’t change or get any harder (level 6 roughly). I then jump cut to level 20 to show you it’s exactly the same. I examined the code via WinApe’s debugger/assembler and can’t find any text relating to ‘completing the game’ or anything similar.
