[AMSTRAD CPC] Alien Storm – Longplay & Review

Review and longplay / walkthrough for “Alien Storm” on the Amstrad CPC!

On first appearances this might look to be a scrolling shoot-em-up blasting away hordes of nasty aliens that have infested the local streets and buildings of your city, instead really it’s mainly a beat-em-up with short range laser weapons – or rather Golden Axe with a different skin!

However! The action is broken up with Operation Wolf style shooting gallery type levels, and a ‘running’ level where your gun does actually fire across the screen! Mix in some nasty end of level bad guys sporadically and it does make a nice mix and move it above just being a Golden Axe clone from Sega.

So how does the conversion to the Amstrad play? Well they’ve done a decent job of cramming the massive arcade machine into this humble 8-bit … but is it any fun? ….
