We’re at that time when you just want to play a classic – and even if there’s nothing festive about Mortal Kombat, it sure is a classic. Some might say that it’s just a schlocky arcade fighting game that hasn’t aged well, was never any good in the first place and people only liked it for the blood, guts and fatalities…I disagree. And because you couldn’t possibly have a Mortal Kombat video without covering at least some of the ancillary stuff surrounding it, this video also features a little look at how Mortal Kombat took over in the home as well, with what was unarguably the best thing Acclaim ever did – their “Mortal Monday” ad campaign for the game’s console ports, one of the most memorable and influential ads ever made for a videogame.
