Commodore 64 Platoon – Finally Completed (Nostalgia Overload)

Hey whatsup guys its OSG here and this one is a bit of a special moment for me. Platoon was the first game I ever loaded up on my commodore 64. I got it as part of the Hollywood pack way back at Christmas 1987 which would make me 11 years old.
I can still remember opening the present on Christmas morning and then setting it up..this was the first brand new system I had ever owned as the previous year I had asked for a C64 but ended up with a second hand Vic20…but still we weren’t a rich family and my mother tried her best for us which we all appreciated
I looked through the Hollywood pack games and immediately 2 stood out…Platoon and Rambo because the movies were massive at the time and although I was too young to watch any of them I still had.
Decision was made to load up Platoon …little did I know that I was gonna here one of the most iconic and eerie SID tunes ever made by the great Jonathan Dunn.
The game itself was rock hard and you gotta remember that back then we had no internet or any way of watching walkthroughs etc…which made this game really hard especially for an 11 year old…I suspect I was like most and immediately set out mapping the game on bits of scrap paper in a bid to complete…I never made it by the Foxhole back in the day though.
A few months ago I uploaded a walkthrough but ran out of time on the last level which was a real kick in the teeth…but this time I’ve learnt my lesson not to dilly dally about and get through as quick as I can
So here it is one of the most important games in my gaming history …the Great Platoon from Ocean in all its Glory….
