Attempt At Recording The Pentium III Retro PC With The Hauppage PVR Rocket In Stand Alone Mode

The cards I used to capture my previous retro PC footage with will no longer work with 64-bit Windows so I am trying out does still work.
The Hauppage HD PVR Rocket seemed to fit the bill – it has a nice stand alone mode where it can record to a USB stick. Sadly it seems to be most happy with the standard resolutions the PS3, PS4, Xbox360 or XboxOne put out. It suffocates on the signal the Voodoo3 outputs transcoded to the OSSC. I figured the OSSC would help out the Hauppage tremendously – but it didn’t. I might need a more versatile alternative. Luckily I have quite a few grabbing solutions.
Verdict: Hauppage HD PVR Rocket for stand alone retro PC recording = FAIL
Update 21-10-2019 13:57: Installing the software and using the device as a capture card for the PC resulted in another fail. The software states that input should only be certain resolutions and refresh rates. This device won’t do for what I would like to do. For the standard resolutions it might fare better. Although the software was very sluggish (on a Ryzen 2700x) !!!!! so I don’t expect much from it using standard video signals.
Verdict: Hauppage HD PVR Rocket for retro PC recording = FAIL
