Checking Pioneer Tape Decks By Playing Back A DDD CD Recording Made On A TDK-SA90 CrO2 Tape

Did a test recording of a classical DDD track from CD on my CT-S410 Pioneer tape-deck on a TDK SA-90 CrO2 tape and playing it back on the CT-S410 (single deck) and CT-W550R (double deck reverse) tape units currently found in my ever evolving 80s / 90s Pioneer Stereo Hifi set.

Tape deck function is checked well with classical music as it has a high dynamic range and wow/flutter or tape speed anomalies are easily picked up.

The sound is recorded with my phone’s microphones and the reproduction of it in this video is of course of lower quality than the actual sound coming from the stereo system itself. I can say it compares very favourably with the actual CD recording on all decks. The CT-S410’s (single tape) performace is slightly more robust than that of the double deck CT-W550R.
