The Same ZX Spectrum Demo At 3.5 Standard And 14Mhz Turbo (ZX Spectrum Next emulated On CSpect)

#ZXSpectrum #Demo #Turbo

The ZXSpectrum has a Z80 running at 3.50Mhz, with an FPGA implementation like the ZX-Next it is possible to make the Z80 run a lot faster. What kind of effect can this have on software that is running? Some software will crash while other software actually can benefit from the speed-up but the latter depends on how it is programmed and how its speed of execution is regulated. Some software scales quite well as this ZX-128 demo does so with some bits – like the rotating city scape bit – taking full advantage of the enhanced speed. Other parts don’t as much as the number of animated frames was hard coded.

The ZX-Next – with the latest firmware can go as high as 28Mhz!!!! At the end of the video is some information on the Spectrum Next

In this video I use CSpect – a ZX Spectrum/ZX-Next emulator with a lot of features as I am still keeping my fingers crossed for a Next Next Kickstarter 🙂
