Note: I wasn’t very thorough with the teardown – you can see I worked out that the small IC wasn’t a serial flash and is an MCU. The ROMs on the N64 are accessed in a serial way, and that IC is doing it I am sure! *It doesn’t need level translation in the same way other systems might do, the N64 uses 3.3v…* The 74 series on there is going to be used to “hold” blocks of data to be serially pushed across to the N64, and one chip to bank switch. The 5 pin device wont be a regulator, its 74 series (a single logic gate probably, possibly a schmitt buffer). Correction: Stephen helped work out the issue with graphics and code getting messed up. Matt @ Bitmap Bureau worked out the sound issue!!!
