If you want to experience older computer systems there are a ton of different solutions to do so. Some prefer the FPGA approach others are more inclined to use emulation. Both have their merits and I can say that Emulation probably is the more affordable option as FPGA systems tend to be quite pricey.
In this video I show the FS-UAE Amiga emulator, based off UAE but then with an easier configuration system and click and run options. I show off a version of Amiga Games Selector that features both a fantastic controller/joystick based menu with a ton of games, emulators (yes emulators on emulators – and they work!) and even demos. As well as a RTG desktop mode which has a very modern look and even today is quite capable of doing a lot of things you would normally do with a current computer.
In some videos after this one I might explore Sharp X68000 emulation over FPGA as well as Atari ST/STE/Falcon with Hatari on the same MSI Mini PC featuring a:
Ryzen 7 5700G
Radeon/Vega Built In GPU
32Gb of DDR4 RAM 3200Mhz
You don’t need the fastest computer in order to experience some wonderful retro based computers in an even more enhanced an advanced state than you’d think possible.

Tubular Worlds on MacOS on Amiga, notice the clock in the corner not updating during gameplay but jumping to the right time when the application closed. Thatβs due to a different kind of multitasking than you are used to these days. Basically the only part of the screen receiving steady updates during the gameplay is the game window itself. π
