❓So what is a NES or Nintendo Entertainment System Anyways?
The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and the Family Computer (Famicom) are two versions of the same 8-bit home video game console developed by Nintendo in the early 1980s. The Famicom was launched in Japan in 1983, and was designed to be a low-cost but high-performance system that could play arcade-quality games at home. It used a custom microprocessor and a hardware sprite rendering system that enabled detailed graphics and fast gameplay. The NES was launched in North America in 1985, after Nintendo redesigned the Famicom to appeal to the Western market. It had a front-loading cartridge slot, removable controllers, and a more angular shape. It also had a lockout chip that prevented unauthorized or unlicensed games from running on the system.
The NES and Famicom continued to be supported and produced until 1995. But eventually were replaced by newer 16 bit systems.
