Mark Plays… All Star Racing & All Star Racing 2 (PSOne) – Maybe Not For My ๐Ÿ”Top Racing Games๐Ÿ”?

This two games probably don’t belong on the TOP RACING GAMES list. I start out the video with being enthusiastic about the games as they do look rather nice. The gameplay doesn’t really live up to the graphics sadly. When I got these games back in the day I did so because of how they looked. I remember being disappointed by the gameplay. Forgetting about the games. Rediscovering them on the shelve. Being enthusiastic about them and quickly disappointment setting in. In this video it happens to me again.

All Star Racing is a racing game for the PlayStation developed in 2002 by Kung Fu Games and published by Mud Duck Productions in the US and by Midas Interactive Entertainment in the EU. The Sequel All Star Racing 2 was developed in 2003 by Kung Fu Games and published by the same two companies.

n February 1999 Midas Interactive Entertainment Ltd. was founded in the United Kingdom as a subsidiary of the Netherlands-based video game publisher Midas Interactive Entertainment BV as a marketing and publishing company. The company was part of what was collectively called the MiDAS Interactive Entertainment Group.
Mud Duck Productions was a budget publisher/developer owned by ZeniMax. Both these publishers focused on budget titles; which these two games definitely feel like.

Can’t find much information on the Kung Fu Games developer.

The game looks a lot better than it plays. It feels like it could and should have been more. Both games feel rushed, incomplete. The two games should actually have been combined into one and instead of the 4 different racing options each game offers: the first game offers different race types that end up being the same style race with different cars. The sequel offers different vehicle choices that end up being the same race with a slightly more different response.

Graphics 7/10
Gameplay 5/10

โ€ผ๏ธThe SD video has been upscaled to 4K so that YouTube kicks the proper encoder, otherwise this would be an even more pixellated mess. YouTube isnโ€™t kind to SD quality retro gaming video these days. Even 1080p video gets messy easilyโ€ฆ.
