The RPCS3 emulator (MacOS Intel)(Rosetta 2) is show running on the M1 MacMini and it’s running surprisingly well – full speed in quite a few games. What also is quite surprising is that the PS1 Classic titles I tried are also booting and running on the Emulator. PS2 Classic titles still aren’t running though.
In this video I test out how well various PS3 and PS3 PSN titles are running on the RPCS3 emulator that is running with Rosetta2 on the M1 MacMini. It almost shouldn’t run as well as it does… This video is for educational purposes.
ROSETTA2:
It seems that the RPCS3 emulator recognises the Rosetta2 x86 implementation as a Westmere type intel CPU. Westmere (formerly Nehalem-C) is the code name given to the 32 nm die shrink of Nehalem and it included Intel HD Graphics, while Nehalem did not. The first Westmere-based processors were launched on January 7, 2010, by Intel.
The Westmere architecture has been available under the Intel brands of Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, Pentium, Celeron and Xeon. Sockets used were LGA 1156, LGA 1366, LGA 1567 and rPGA988A.
So Rosetta2 is supporting probably supporting instructions: IA-32 ❌, x86-64 ✅
with Extensions: AES-NI✅, CLMUL✅, MMX✅, SSE✅, SSE2✅, SSE3✅, SSSE3✅, SSE4✅, SSE4.1✅, SSE4.2 ✅, VT-x❓, VT-d❓
