The Commodore 64 Budget Publisher Showdown is a five part series that aims to determine which was the best of the three most prolific publishers of budget games on the Commodore 64 – Mastertronic, Firebird and Codemasters. Each episode will see the best game from each publisher in a variety of categories pitched against each other and discussed by myself and two guests.
In Episode 1 I give an overview of the competition format and profiles of the three publishers before being joined by long-time C64 collectors and writers Mat “Mayhem” Allen and Warren “Waz” Pilkington to cover the first three rounds, which are all about shooting games.
