If you grew up with the almighty Championship Manager 01/02, you’ll no doubt know the likes of Cherno Samba, Maxim Tsigalko and Tonton Zola Moukoko very well — you could sign these players up and they’d quickly become incredible.

These legends of the game may not have done too much in their actual careers, but in this football management classic they’re heroes to many players, loved to this very day. And while a lot of them have quite a story to tell when it comes to how their professional career played out, none quite compare to Tó Madeira — the greatest striker of them all, and by far the one with the strangest origin.
