This has been so hard for me to track down, it might just be the rarest Gameboy game, certainly the rarest unlicensed game at least. It’s been on my eBay watch list for well over 10 years now and it’s never came up once!
Whenever I tried to look it up online, I could only ever find three results, a press release from 2001, a paragraph on an article at NES World, and a two star review on Amazon, also from 2001!
It began with my quest to collect every gameboy game by Datel. I was obsessed with a magazine called Action GBX back in the day, and one of the things I’d always see was an advert for these weird looking games. Last year I finally got all of them, or so I thought. It turns out there were two other cartridges also released around the same time. One of them was the Smart Com, which I’ll cover in a future video, if I can get it to work. And the second thing was this, the Game Studio.
There’s hardly anything online about this, there’s a few press releases from 2001 when it came out, and one bad review on Amazon.
There’s only three mentions of it online:
* this Nesworld article, which was a great resource for my rocket games video,: http://www.nesworld.com/article.php?system=gbx&data=gbc-rocketgames
* this amazon page: Datel Direct GameStudio (PS2): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video …https://www.amazon.co.uk › Datel-Direct-GameStudio-…
* And one from Amazon in Germany: https://www.amazon.de/Playstation-2-Gameboy-Adapter-Game-Studio/dp/B00005IBS3
* and this press release from before it came out.. -Play your GameBoy games on the PS2! • Eurogamer.nethttps://www.eurogamer.net › News

So what exactly is the Game Studio and was it worth the price? Let’s find out!
