Eclectic Thursday Waffle But Also On Sponsorship, Product Reviews, Advice Asked – response to Kevin

Kevin – Down The Rabbit hole made a video on how to deal with companies wanting to make a deal with you on something in relationship to your channel.
His video can be found here: https://youtu.be/FODe1gEpvXY

I recently had a situation fairly similar, I was offered a product to review/ sponsorship too.
Well not a sponsorhip perse but perhaps the beginning of a tech-review relationship ( I have done so in the past, also written articles). In the past I reviewed Android tablets / gamepads because I liked it. I stopped doing that because I didn’t feel happy solely being this Android / Gaming / PC on a Stick type of channel. My channel perhaps is as eclectic as yours.
So what has happened? I recently got asked by a supplier of t-bao computers to give feedback on a Ryzen5 2500U Vega8 mini PC (Intel NUC) and to possible review items for them on a regular basis. I would be send the machine and I could keep the machine: they wanted me to look at particular things and I got a whole questionnaire to fill in and could provide them with hints and tips. They were happy with unlisted videos if video would explain some thing I found better. So they didn’t seem to be interested in me making product endorsement videos but were after my tech-feedback. So getting stuff I am interested in – I like small form factor PCs and squeezing performance out of limited machines more than just running the highest end models.

A dilemma perhaps a little similar to yours.

Ask yourself a couple of questions
1. Why do you make YouTube videos?
2. What is the goal of your channel?
3. What is your first gut feeling?
4. Where does this come from? What is in it for them? What’s in it for you?
5. Would it change things for you?
6. Would it change the content of your channel?
7. If you do think it is good for you than let it be on your terms.

In the video I answer these videos. Talk about it in relation to Kevin’s question and have some questions of my own.
