Outrun2 Coast2Coast PC Compared To the Ports On PSP, PS2 and PS3

#PSP #PS2 #PS3 #PC #Outrun – wow YouTube made an absolute mess of this 1080p60fps file
Outrun2 is just about my favourite arcade racer by Sega. What is amazing is that the home ports have stayed so true to the arcade game. Ports for original Xbox (disc), Xbox360 (download), PS2 (disc), PSP (MD), PS3 (digital download) and PC (disc and download) exist. The digital downloads are NOT available for purchase anymore due to the Ferrari license running out and Sega doesn’t have any plans to renew it.
Comparison:
The PC game is no doubt the most flexible and can even scale to ultra wide screens at high resolutions. The PSP port is simply amazing running at 30fps most of the times with just a couple of areas where it only seldom does 15fps. The PS2 port is very solid at 480p in a 4:3 aspect ratio. And finally the PS3 version – which runs at 720p but doesn’t suffer as much bloom-mania as the Xbox ports seem to suffer from.
Conclusion:
I think the PC version is the best, followed by the PS3. But the game is very playable on each and every system. The PSP port is a must have for Outrun2 gamers on the go!
For this video I have used the Steam version of Outrun2 on PC, the PPSSPP Emulator for the PSP version, the PCSX2 Emulator for the PS2 version (running it in software graphics emulation to get rid of all render issues concerning mist etc), the RPCS3 Emulator for the PS3 game.
