Welcome back to RETRO CRUNCH, your nostalgia news show that is all about Current Pop Culture, Movies, Music, and Games that relates to all things 70s, 80s, and 90s!

Back in 1999, the NBC and the WWE got together to create the most ridiculous experiment in foot ball history called the XFL.

It was a football league meant to compete with the NFL. It was an interesting idea, but it didn’t last long.

Well, Mr. McMahon, just self funded a new entertainment group called Alpha Entertainment, and there’s some real possibilities that he may be bringing back the XFL.

He also took control of 5 XFL related trademarks from the WWE, and The WWE made a statement that..

“Vince McMahon has established and is personally funding a separate entity from WWE, Alpha Entertainment, to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including professional football. Mr. McMahon has nothing further to announce at this time. ”

Key word here is “including professional football”. So, its entirely possible that Vince may be looking at righting his failures by going another try at some type of football endeavor.

There’s really very little information other than the WWE statement, so its too early to speculate it being the XFL return. He could be buying the for sale Carolina Panthers for all we know.

But if this idea is anything like his body building federation, the WWF restaurant, or he goes with his same XFL model from 1999, im not optimistic. Good luck Vince.

Nintendo’s famous gaming news magazine, NINTENDO POWER is being resurrected.

Nintendo Power is a news and strategy magazine which was initially published in-house monthly by Nintendo of America, and later independently.

It started 29 years ago in 1988 and the last ever magazine was printed in December 2012. Well, its being revived as a podcast, and the first podcast was just released yesterday.

In this first episode, they talk about the Nintendo Switch and also Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Ill link to the soundcloud podcast down below so yall can take a look.

Ok, I’m a HUGE fan of the 1987 romantic comedy OVERBOARD. The original film famously starred goldie hahn as the spoiled heiress who gets flung from her boat, and kurt russell as the carpenter who falls for her.

But I was a bit apprehensive when I found out there was going to be a remake of the classic.

Anna Farris and Eugenio Derbez star in the upcoming remake of the 1987 romantic comedy Overboard — but it looks like theres a role reversal in this one.

This remake follows playboy Leonardo), who hails from a rich Mexican family. After falling off a yacht, he gets amnesia, and a single mom who had been previously scorned by Leonardo convinces him that they are a married couple.

Overboard is due for release in April 2018, so there should be some movie trailers coming out in the near future.

And speaking of Movie REMAKES, Yall remember Eddie Murphy’s flick 48 hours, which came out in 1982. Well, its being remade and its at the helm of Paramount Players.

Its still in the very early stages of development, with Chernin Entertainment producing the remake and they are just now working on a screenplay for the film, so its too early too know if it will be even a near resemblance of the 82 original.

Also, the Halloween REBOOT is really shaping up and they are really trying to make this new Halloween a great one. They are adding Nick Castle to the cast to play Michael Myers.

He also played Michael in the original 1978 flick, so this is reassuring to the quality of the film. The movie is slated to be released on Friday, October 19, 2018. Just in time for Halloween!
