I was into programming the PC and had a Snes with Super Mario World back in the day and I remember seeing Sonic on the Megadrive in a shop window for the first time and being blowed away by the speed. The smoothness and speed that was stood out. I remember vividly seeing Sonic run through one of those loops and all the parallax scrolling going on in the back ground. Sadly most of my money went to rent, books, tuition and I decided it was not for me as the price was high back then.
There was some point that I could buy a Megadrive cheap of a fellow student with Sonic the Hedgehog but then my push bike got stolen and I needed the funds to get a new bike (a necessity when going to college or being a student in the Netherlands) so it was quite a bit of time before I owned a Sonic. Must have been late 90s early 20s.
