Commodore 64 (C64) Nano SwinSID CS Fix & Dual SID Update

A short follow on video where I talk about the issues with the Nano SwinSID and how and why it works with one of the Tynemouth Software Dual SID boards. This video is in part a correction to my previous Nano SwinSID CS Fix video – the Nano is not perfect when running as a single SID, or as the primary SID in a Dual SID board, but it does sound perfect as the 2nd SID in a Dual SID board.

Update 19/12/2015 : Tried 1K pull downs (didn’t work) and then 1K pull ups on the Nano, and had it disabled when CPU tries to read it. With pull ups this allows Last Ninja 3 intro to show without skipping, and you can play the game. It does cause issues with the music in Last Ninja 3. The pull ups fix issues on R-Type and Last Ninja, but I wouldn’t implement pull ups as a permanent fix. It appears that the emulation in general is probably the cause, and it looks like the Nano is probably responding but with inaccurate values when compared to a MOS SID.

To get the best out of a Nano SwinSID, it’s best to use it as SID 2 in the Dual SID board from Dave Curran, or make one like I did from a SID2SID board (actually cheaper and cleaner to buy a board from Dave Curran).
