There’s a plethora of solid state storage solutions for the old consoles and the old home computers. The 1541Ultimate II is an expensive but very compatible piece of kit offering full 1541 emulation and reading, writing to all sorts of C64 image formats, fastloaders and playing multi file programs.
The less powerful solutions like SD2IEC offer basic support for D64 disk images and loading games from them but aren’t compatible with the popular T64 tape image format.
