Atari 7800 PAL AV Mod with comparison game play
Electric Adventures
Finally a simple AV mod kit has been released for the PAL version of the Atari 7800 console.
In this video I cover the installation of the mod kit and show comparison footage from before and after the installation.
I used the same capture device both times and it does a pretty decent job when the 7800 is connected by RF so it is a little difficult to see the difference in a lot of places, but it is a lot more obvious when viewing on the actual CRT TV. Probably the Xevious game play is the most obvious as the RF signal wanders during the capture.
I couldn’t think of a way to compare the sound, but the main difference is with RF there is constant interference and afterwards the sound is clean and a lot louder (I had to reduce the volume heaps in editing).
Also it is pretty much impossible to get a standard 7800 to work on a modern TV, so this is another thing that makes this mod a good idea.
If you are interested in this mod, the seller has a number of AV mods for quite a few systems available here:

So far I have tried both the Colecovision and obviously Atari 7800 mods and they have worked fine.
