A quick video teardown of the 120 in 1 Neo Geo MVS cart.
I later did some research on the ‘PCM’ chips on Neo Geo carts and I believe they do have something to do with PCM audio, but also address decoding of the P ROM chips. On this cart those large CPLD chips (NOT FPGA) route the address lines according to which game you select from the list, and do some decoding or something related to the PCM bus. I believe these carts (and the 138 in 1) are lacking pull up resistors on the YM2610 bus (Can result in random sound issues on some MVS). These carts also lack a proper regulated voltage and many bypass capacitors. Take a look at some of my 138 in 1 cart videos for more information.
