What’s this? A licensed game from the current generation? And not just any old game, but one that won a shitload of GOTY awards? Telltale, one of the few companies these days that deal almost exclusively in licensed games, certainly knocked this one out of the park – and they put licensed games back on top again!…for a little while. And now it’s here in the A-Z!
There’s definitely some quality to be found in the honourable mentions today – The Warriors is a very solid 3d beat-’em-up by Rockstar, and could have certainly got the nod…and then there’s World of Illusion to boot – one of the most beautiful games you can get on the Mega Drive! Even something like Waterworld is generally shit, but has a truly unbelievable soundtrack…and then there’s Willow, an arcade game by Capcom that surprisingly didn’t make it to the home machines.
And then there’s the shit room, which features the Wu-Tang Clan. They may have been responsible for some of the best hip-hop albums of all-time, but they also had a game to boot – Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style! Boom-bap your way through evil ninjas and the like…alas, it didn’t really work out. Enjoy the video!
