[Commentary] Games World Net Night with Harry Yack
RetroUnlim
Hello you, Harry Yack here. Oh, this is a treat and/or a half, depending on your fondness for overly sarcastic director commentary style videos.
A quick shufty through my recently-archived hard drive reveals a number of videos that never saw the light of day for one reason or other. This one, I believe, was difficult to argue as ‘Fair Use’ in the eyes of YouTube. But never mind, for YT’s loss is Retro Unlim’s gain, haha!
It is fairly well known that Hewland’s Games World was screened nightly on cable channel Sky One in the mid-late 90s. But hopeless video gaming obsessives quickly learned to further satiate their fixation by switching over to the Computer Channel, which also screened special, bite-sized editions of their second favourite tech-related telly programme, the first being GamesMaster, of course. 😛
CAST
Big Boy Barry, otherwise known as Alex Verrey, was the Guru Larry of his time. It wasn’t long before he had his own show (which I never really watched because I didn’t like him, but hey) and became a regular presenter of GW-related programming.

Donna Air was plucked from CBBC’s Byker Grove and shoved in front of the GW big studio lights at a very young age. I think she did a pretty good job, considering the circumstances. It’s certainly served her well — today, she is a superstar of the stage and screen, appearing in such prestigious roles as Cinderella in Gateshead Community Theatre’s production of, erm, The Hunchback of Notre Dame?
Kate Russell now does that Webscape feature thing on BBC Click. Her fellow reviewer I forget the name of, but he’s probably doing pretty well for himself in the media industry. Either that or he retired to Prestatyn to play Russians at Chessmaster 5000. Yeah, I prefer to think *that*!
