[AMSTRAD GX4000] Fire & Forget II – Longplay & Review

Review and longplay / walkthrough for “Fire & Forget II – The Death Convoy” on the Amstrad GX4000 console!

Fire & Forget II is one of the very first games available on the GX4000, in fact I believe it was the first one reviewed (aside from Burnin’ Rubber) in Amstrad Action who gave it a whopping 94%!! And yes, you’ll soon find out that was a ridiculous rating and review…

This is basically a clone of Roadblasters meets Chase HQ – but the twist being your car can also fly! A fairly novel twist and evolution in this genre, but by 1990 this is already looking a bit stale and not really starting off the life of the GX4000 with a bang… especially given that this game was later released – gameplay in tact – on the stock Amstrad CPC range. All they’ve added for the GX4000 version is pretty screen and a nice sky line – THAT’S IT!

The game is reasonably fun to start with, but gets very difficult and frustrating especially the collision detection and targeting of your main guns. You soon lose interest, but persevere and it’s a decent challenge and OK game overall… with a huge number of different types of enemies and sprites!
