[PC/DOS] European Championship 1992 – Longplay

Longplay for “European Championship 1992” on the PC (MS-DOS)!

Some more footy games and vids for you to coincide with the Euro 2012 competition that’s on at the moment!

This is a conversion from Elite software of the classic “World Cup 90” from Tecmo to the PC – but re-branded for the 1992 Euro cup. Whilst it’s no where near as good as the original coin-op and source material, it does add a few new things such as action replays, cheerleaders, half times complete with marching bands, being able to run into the goal post and knock yourself out (fast forward to the last 20 seconds of the video for a bonus clip of this happening!!) and also streakers!! Unfortunately the latter only very rarely happens and didn’t on this recording 🙁

Teams chosen in the game are the exact 8 countries currently in the quarter finals at Euro 2012!

I hadn’t played this game and version in probably near 15 years! But I still have the box and floppy disks for this 🙂 So this isn’t really an ‘expert’ showcase of a longplay, I only had one go before recording this – so I pick things up as I go along and wok out new ways to score, leading to some close finishing games because the computer is no walk over – controlling your goal keeper is really awkward and they often score with their attacks! The biggest niggle is the computer changing control of your player, which doesn’t work well and very annoying. Overall though I’ll give this game a 7/10. Action replays and being able to save them is a nice touch!
