[AMSTRAD CPC] Lemmings – Longplay (Part 1 of 4 – FUN Levels) & (mini) Review

Lemmings longplay and walkthrough for the Amstrad CPC!

A conversion of one of the most famous and popular games ever ended up on the Amstrad CPC – and despite it’s limitations this is a fantastic port!

In this version there’s 60 levels in total (much less than the PC and Amiga originals) which are split into 4 sections of 15 levels – Fun, Tricky, Taxing and Mayhem. We will be doing each section (of 15 levels) in parts making 4 videos for this longplay. I won’t be commentating throughout the levels, but I give a brief mini-review at the start on this one!

This port was handled by DMA Designs (who became Rockstar North and went on to make Grand Theft Auto!) who had “Walking Circles” (The Living Daylights, APB, Skull & Crossbones, etc) on programming duties.

Shame about the lack of presentation – but this was very late into the commercial life of the Amstrad so wouldn’t have seen much sales and was probably quickly ported – but they did a fantastic job with the playability, level design, graphics and music! You can’t ask for much more! Except perhaps a more precise and smoother moving cross hairs. Overall though one of the best Amstrad games ever, deserving I believe a 9.5/10 from me!
