[AMSTRAD CPC] Super Cauldron – Longplay & Review (Part 1 of 4 – World 1)
Xyphoe
More halloween hijinx! With the sequel and update to the classic Cauldron games from Palace Software … SUPER CAULDRON!
This is one of the best looking and highest rated games on the Amstrad (the magazine Amstrad Action gave it 96%!) and Elmar Krieger – he of Prehistorik II fame – has pulled it off again! A truly superb game, although perhaps a little over difficult and frustrating…
Which is part of the reason this video is not a full longplay – this is just the 1st World, the next 3 worlds will follow over time! A very tricky game with lots of areas to explore and find – I’ve been meaning to do this for a very very long time but got fed up and forgot all about it! Plus there’s issues with sound emulation, causing very nasty sound corruption which is painful to the ears – I eventually gave up! HOWEVER seeing as it’s Halloween, I’ve decided to return to it and at least start with the first level! Sure there were sound issues again, but I’ve taken time to do a few edits to get through this without them thankfully appearing in the final video.
Hope you guys will look forward to the next levels and parts!
Oh and the Amstrad was the only 8-bit to get a version of this game! Woo! hehe! PC and Amiga versions are OK, but this version is more impressive relative to the hardware it’s running on 🙂
