[AMSTRAD CPC] Renegade – Longplay & Review

Renegade – the classic arcade beat-em-up conversion to the Amstrad CPC – review and longplay.

I’ll be taking a look at the Renegade trilogy this week on the Amstrad, first up is the official home conversion and what a fantastic and faithful job they’ve done! Great fun for a quick blast!

The Amstrad (and Spectrum) version actually uses the same buttons as the arcade original (left attack, jump, right attack) too – it makes it a little awkward to play but brownie points in my book for trying to be as faithful as possible and IMHO it works fine.

I forget to mention the speed of the sprites moving around the screen in the commentary! Great stuff!

Known as “Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun” in Japan (it had you fighting school bullies and a lot less ‘violent’ and ‘gritty’) but re-sknned and re-titled for release in the West.

The poke and keypress to turn on the ‘blood’ you can find on the CPC Power link below.
